Jaspers M/C Poker Run Ever have one of those mornings that it does not seem worthwhile to get out of bed ? This particular morning seemed to be just that. I could not spot the sun for the overcast and haze and the thought that was running through my noodle was that quite possibly the Jaspers had done it again. It just would not do to ' break their streak now with a sunny day. After conning myself that it was not as bad as all that I trotted over to the coffee sbop to await some fellow travelers. No such luck, so 1 departed on my solo journey toward Ontario where at least I could get a cup of coffee with some pleasant company. Breaking through the fog I arrived at the Jaspers clubhouse and found everything well setup complete with shamrocks, green tcing on the donuts (food , coloring), and the general theme of " Er in Go Braugh". I left the start and proceeded over Mission East to Euclid and then South to Highway 71. By this, time the overcast was in the process of being burned out by the sun who had decided to make an appearance at last. Turning right the route went up and through Pomona and headed up toward the mountains. I, about this time started to envision another triP through the mountains and some more of that good ' -etd drizzle as in the past, However 1 turned right on F ooth1ll Blvd. and then jogged up to Route 66 and triPped through Cucamonga, Fontanaand into San Bernardino where 1headed south into Riverside. The turnoff at 7th in Riverside did not tell me as to whether I should head East or West but I decided that East was the way to go, so Iwent. The route then went out of Riverside, down Riverview Rd., left on Van Buren, and then right on Magnolia through Arlington, La Sierra and into the scenic town of Corona. Now here 15 where I picked up a minor problem. As I turned right on Main SI. I was supposed to find check found fairly close to the turn. So as I proceeded in my usual "cautious " manner I sound found myself at the end of Route 31 staring at the end of the road. So I says to myself "self", I says, " you must have missed the check", a very astute observation. I passed a number of riders coming up route 31 as I " ambled" back to the check. I figured If they found it how come I blew it? After finding check four just where it was supposed to be I went back over the now fam1l1ar road to the finish. As I started back I was passing the same people I had just passed. They seemed to have the same problem. Leonard CoWns officiated with anumber of tricky events such as a PIan ride, picking UP eggs whilst they were on pop bottles and you were on a moving motor cycle, slow race, and attempting to toss a potato into a pot while you also had to try and make a tight left turn. After the wheelbarrow race (won by a pair of speedy Rambows) the gold was given out with plenty of seating for a welcome change. The mostunusualraingear went to the Toppers with a community umbreui. There was a spec ial Stinker Award orl.glna1ly destined for "Big Daddy" but as he was among the missing it went to the chaP that could not find check four (it sure looks cute UP there on my mantle). The morning may not have started off too well but there were 250 riders wending their way home in the after noon that attested to the fact that things sure .s brightened UP this day and eve ryone had themselves a good time.
