The first race of the day was a combination race with 100Cc Juniors and 125cc Juniors and Seniors running together. Dave Rodgers on a 100CcBultaco gave a good battIe to Gary Bailey and John Rice, both Sachs mounted 125cc Seniors. Gary Bailey took an easy overall win in the Senior class. The combo race saw Jon Mlller take the 125cc Junior and Dave Rodgers the l00cc race. First place 500Cc Junior was Alan Wurtzel (CZ) and David Smead (Husky) took second. This year all riders except first year. road racers wlll be classed as Seniors. Junior riders wlll be required to wear a whIte 6 inch square patch on the back of their leathers that wlllldentifY them to a faster rider approaching from behind. Closing speeds in roar racing are very high and making the slower riders Identifiable as Juniors will make passing safer for everyone on the track. A Junior wearing a patch my petition to the AFM National Representative after any race meet and seek permission to remove the patch and advance to Senior status. . When a rider does make the class shift the L.A. chapter will pay the entry fee for his first race. Entry fees will be paid per rider this year and a single fee will allow a rider to . compete on as many bikes as he wishes. In the case of professional races with a cash purse that wlll draw the fastest west coast riders to the grid, the entry wU1 be by invitation of the promoter only so the callber of racers on the track at any one time will be equally high. The pur se distribution In the profes sional races wfll ' be left up to the promoters so It \\111 be possible to concentrate most of the money Into one class. In falrness to all the riders whowould not be racing in the professional events because of the invitational entry, the money races will not count toward s eason points. The next race of the L.A. chapter of the AF M wlll be at Orange County Inti. Raceway on March 15th.
