Mulder, again not riding the Trophy" Dash, moved first alternate Mike Haney into his spot and Haney took the lead. Van Leeuwen got to flying again and shot past him to receive the troPhy and the kiss from the Queen. I n the Main it was Portland'S pride.and j oy Sonny Burres who took the lead but Mulder was hard alter him followed by Lloyd Houchins but not for long. Later Houchins ,went side and then it was Coppage and Romero fighting it out. By the seventh lap Van Leeuwen was up to second but " Squirrel" was not to be caught. He was haulingl Coppage and Romero still argued out the point but finally it was Gene who worked up to take on the redoubtable Burres who was holding down third behind Van Leeuwen. When Romero flnally gotpassed the Portland ace by just a squeak there was more than one fan on his feetl " .
