ASTRODO.I RACIRS:
Smith, Dave Bickers and Hugh Anderson
clashed in each race of the third meet
of the Rothmans International Motocross
Series.
Anderson led the Senior Scratch race
after passing Collo Schultz (Tri. Metisse) with a good lead which neither
Bickers nor Smith could narrow but
Anderson was blown off his bike by a
strong gust of wind when leaping a lone
jump and retired.
In both main events - the 12 lap Rothmans Trophy legs, the lead and many
places were in doubt to the end. In the
first leg Bickers fell after getting
crossed up on a jump shortly after the
start. Coming from the back of the field,
Bickers sawed through the pack to almost catch Hugh Anderson, ex World
Road Race Champion, on the Ilne,
The Senior Scratch race saw Collo
Schultz lead the field for the first 3 laps
from Smith, nntu both were passed by
Hugh Anderson. Anderson fell off at the
end of the fifth lap . leaving Bickers to
win fr om Schultz and Smith.
In the Over 350Cc Scratch race Smith
led all the way closely followed by
