Most riders rode both courses aDd tbree fellows won tbe1r class on both sides of tile pits. Wayne Garrett tooItbts Yamalla to tile 250 win in both races and Ken Warner did tile same on aSachs in tile 100 Novice. Terry Clark cba1ked llP two more 1dDs for bts Kawa VanTech in tile Expert traUb1ke races. The Busbmaster's course bad a rocky bt11 witll a windy trail down it. Some of tile chargers on the first tried to go straight down instead of zig-zagging with the trail but rocks the size of beacb bl1ls put an end to that. The tratf1c backed up and soon there were as many riders as rocks on the slope. PbU Bowvll got that all flgured out aDd knocbd aIf the win in the 250 Am.! Ex. race. The Buphm·. . .'sOpen Nov1c:e 10 was woo by laymaDGatt1sOllaBusq. RJch Tbor1lllldsclD aced out fellow Bultaco rtc:Ier Larry Bergquist in the nobolds-barred Open, E~ match. Across the road 011 tbe Prospector's stde JIm Mart1no got past Bergquist wilen Larry dropped it in a SlUIdwash on the flrst lap. Whltey went 011 to win ahead of Doyle Fields rld1ng a big 1nch Triumph. Whltey said that tile back side of tile course bad lots of bumps aDd places to really get sky1ng. Be said tIIere were some soft holes to fall into and that he dld some "super handstands". Ken Westen and Dennis Grissom oatled down first and second in the Open Novice thing. Both were rldlng Maicos but Dennls bad to work up trom eighth place after the first lap. Three Yamaha riders, Al Baker, M1ke Patrick and Phll Bowers fllled up tile first tbree places in the 250 Expert. Frustratlon award for the day goes to Dave Messer wIlo led hls 250 Novice race up to the last quarter ml1e or so when he ran out of gas and had to push to the flag.
