CYCLE NEWS NORTH Tho action Is always tleht on a 1/10 milo oval. Nick (64y) Theroux holds tho oulsldo crooyo•. arelslDrd Mf//(es It Three SAN JOSE, CALIF. Nov. 22 - Mark Brelsford made traclcs around San Jose for his tbird straight main event win but had to work uP from behind in the heats arid semi, taldng a tblrd in the heat and then second in the semi on his detuned H-D that's suPer-fast. Main event time lound Mark last on lap two but with lour riders down in a pile, forming a TT style ramp lor Don Castro to jump over, having no plaCe else to go, Don looked good lor the uPcoming TT season. Alter a COuPle of restarts the riders settled down, with Brelsford out front from start to linlsh. Butcb Corder, Triumph mounted for Johnson Motors, finishing second. Russ Powell, Bultaco, ran tbird after a beat·win and taking a second in the semi. Talking wi th Butch Corder after race time, he reckoned maybe "too much horse power" from his Triumph may be keeping him out of the winners circle so far this season. National number 22, Dan Haaby, made his lirst sbowlng at San Jose riding a Triumph and did a good job in his qualifying beat, coming from dead last to finish third. He just could not get going in the beat and did not transfer to the Main Event. For those who like good racing along with bumper cars, they should take on the Barkhlmer San Jose Short Track show. It Is great, something that the whole lamily can enjoy. It kind of reminds you of a cockfight - a cage full of banly roosters. With just two weelcs left before moving uP to the Cow Palace in San Francisco, If Brelsford keeps 11 uP he wW be the champion rooster of the San Jose hen- house. Nov.23,1969-in spite of fog and very cold weather the Motorcycle Riders Association managed to have a very good turn outtor the HIDclimb.
