Racers Swar. At Buslt.asters PO;Dt RUD en By Elaine Jones ~ PERRIS, -CALIF., Nov. 16, 1969- Continually widening the gap between hlmsel! and the pack, Chuck Wheat won all three motos in the 500 EJqlert class at the Bushmaster's Dist. 37 TT Scrambles In Perris Sunday. Fred Edwards, riding a BSA with a Metrlsse frame and a Bultaco tank and seat, went at it with Terry Dorsch, Triumph, in the 650 EJqlert class. The contest was close in all the motos, but Dorsch couldn't out power Freddy in the last moto. In the end, Fred won first and Terry came in second. The 250Cc EJqlerts really went at it, throwing in a couple of crashes for good measure. Ron Powell with his second win of the day powered through and stayed there. Dan Carlton held ott a strong . attack by Steve Nichols who came from last in the third heat to take third place and finally managed third overall. 350Cc Novice Bob Greenstreet poured the coal to his new Bultaco and won the first two motos of his class with no trOUble. In the third heat, Boyd Mason just got by in the last turn to take the win. However, Bob Greenstreet remalned top dog of the 350 Novices, followed by Bruce Yoakum and Boyd Mason. Chuck Tidwell over came bad starts and trattlc to take the 500Cc Novice class. Chuck never once had a lead he didn't work for. Sandy RObertson, Stephen Lowell and Wayne Tuttledge spent most of the time going round and round wi th one another. Frank Close literally went bananas when he found out he took the Open Novice class. All he could say is he couldn't believe it, and it was the first time he had ever won when it counted. James Humphrey was second. Vince Graves pulled the "UP for grabs" 500Cc Amateur class out of the bag by being the most consistent rider. Jim Stun and Glen Brunson each won one, so the last moto was a real go. In the 650 Amateur class, Tom Simpson, coming in first, put on a really good go with Perry Armstrong who made it in second on a Triumph. The 50cc boys rode well, but the race turned out to be a family affair with the Lewis boys, Larry and Jay, taking it first and second. . Bill Dobbs finally made the grade at a point run when he topped the 100Cc Novice Main by a wide margin. John Sperry got up for second. Bob Sanders lost to Ron Powell with a hearbreaker in the 100Cc EJqlert moto. Bob had two first but took a bad one that caused him to finish 12th and blow the race. Ron Powell with his one first and two seconds came out on toP. This class was loaded with talen like Doug Mason, Richard Sweaney, Gary Scott, and Steve Nichols, none Of which are noted for dogging it. The Yamahas,' as always, ruled the l25cc class. Steve Mudd got the most out of his Yamaha and took the win while t.:I PhIl McDonald followed him in second. :c: Bob Kline had a good introduction to t.:I point runs in the 250Cc Novice, but It ...:J didnt' seem to shake him mUCh. He got- §:: home first. Tom WhIte and his yellow (.) Bultaco were tops In the Amateur division. (Results on page 21) Chuck Wheal leans his Malco Inlo one of Ihe Perris lurns.
