Richard lOt started racing by walchIIllt open practlce. He didn't even ha\'e to
see the real thlOi to know racing was for
him. The first time he was on the 11oe,
he was so scared he tboU(l'ht his arms
were IQlng to tall ott. The desire for a
wblte plate haS overcome thatpartlcular
problem.
Richard Is following in the footsteps of
Steve "Red Baron" Tinsley with the
scarf bit, but his 15 p.urely functional. It
keeps his neck warm.
Jim McKay t:a.nlled with a car the

When he was eighteen, he flnally got a

WHEATS "PEOPLE EATER"
C.H. Wheat and son Chuck made a rare
appearance at the Saturday nlght races
at Perrls and brought along' 'The People
Eater" better known as the 50 Icc Malco.
According to C.H. It Is the only one of
Its kind In the Unlled States and ls
strictly a prototype. Hls job will be to
see what the bike Is capable of doing and
what is going to cause it to breakdown.
This bike has a power curve of 3000
to 9500 rpm's and Is a three speed
which means it's fast. C.H, haS no Idea
at what the horsepower is as they won't
tell him. A 360Cc Malco has 43 so you
can take It from there.
The handling characteristics are fantastlc said C.H. Chuck Jr. claimed he
had power allover the place.
One Malco rider who was looki.Jg at
the bike said 11 needed to be cha1ned uP
Vlhen it wasn't runntng so 11 wouldh't
eat dogs and small children: thus, the
50lcc Malco was tagged "The People
Eater",
Production date for the bike should be
early '71 at which time It will come out
as a four speed instead of the present
three. C,H. and Chuck will be testing
the bike on TT tracks for some time.

not accustomed to losing, but three times
In a row he had to yield to the older and
more experienced Campbell. Behind the
Yamahas of Campbell and Bigley, Perry
Lorenz brought his Penton In to thlrd

Bigley'S Yamaha team-mate, Jack 0'
Leary, encountering no such surprise
dlfflcultles as had befallen Gary, continued his traditlon of winnlng three-uP
