Added At'rac'ion Offered To flsenada 10.r Pa'rols "" C\I ~ c~~eR~r~att:d~ ~:r~= ~ PERRIS, October 18, 1969 - It's a good tblng the season is almost over - some of the riders are holding their bikes together with bubble gum, ba11ng wire and a lot of prayer. Bruce Yoakam'S Honda bas had it and John M.' s Malco is all over the garage" In odd-shaped boxes. Bob and Jim KlIne's Suzuld keeps threatening to fall apart but somehow they get it in shape during th~ week, th~n Mrs. Kline chants throughout the race, "If it only holds together, if it only holds together." Her rooting didn't help last time, but the bike sure looked good before it broke down. It was "Mark Revel's Night" and the Burtons treated Mark to, the evening's races. Mark was introduced to racing when he and his father ran into Bob Sanders and his son Bob at a local bike shop in Whittier. Sanders invited them out to see the races and that was itMark was sold on racing. Mark is fourteen and has been in competition about five months. Since he got his baby Greenstreak he has had two wins in two starts. Mark even bas a fan club. His parents and sister head the list but Tim McCoy is the president he doesn't miss a Saturday night. Sonny of Norm Best Honda helPs Mark by tuning the bike and giving him pointers. Like all Novices, he bas an idol, Dave Aldana whom he considers one of the best potential riders around. So are you Mark. Chuck Tidwell who does great on his powerful Malco still manages to get the short ena of 1I1e stick when he cllmbs aboard his wife's 250 Yamaha. He might show you the scars if you ask him real the tour that drew more than 800 entries last year. The sign-in table will be open Friday evening from 5 to 9 p.m., Oct. 31 for tourers who wish to check in and go to the Mexican Resort early, announced Cabe Palmer, Terrapins M .C. president. The second added feature will be a guided tour to the famous tidal blowhole known as "La Bufadora" at the tiP of Punta Banda, 23 miles below Ensenada. The blow-hole is perhaps the largest such phenomenon In the world, shooting tons of white water hundreds of feet into the air every few minutes. The Mexican government has recently built concrete stairs and walks about 50 feet above the water on the edge of the abyss which allows the timid to get a closer look without climbing over slippery rocks as they had to do in the past. The area is beyond the normal tourists limits, so arrangements have been made with the Mexican Tourists Bureau to provide a blanket visa for all who wish to make the jaunt to the scen1c wonder. The trek w1ll be led by Cycle News contributor, Bill Harmer, and will leave about 2: 30 Saturday afternoon immediately after the parade. The group w1ll return in plenty of time for dinner and the evening festivities. Make your plans now to join the group. .,..-.Jr->'. The concrete platform, recently built for spectators by the Mellcan covernmenl, Is about 100 fHt above the ocean's surface: Road riders on ihe CYCLE NEWS and Terrapins M,C. Ensenada tour will have the opportunity to vlsll the salt water ceyser that Is located 23 miles south of Ensenada, Mexico. Specia I arrancements have been made with the Mellcan Tourists Bureau to facilitate the trek. nice. Dottie Greenstreet brought her parents out to watch her husband Bob who has really been turning in on lately. However, he must have been saving his energy for the point run because he diCln't try hard enough for a number one - he came in number two. Wayne Whisenant calls himself a pro- . fessional Novice but only because he can't keep his bikes together. He credits (and I didn't say it) "Fat Tony Den1us" with getting him started. Tony did his work well because Wayne is now doing Tony's old jOb at Harrison and Reno Honda in San Bernardino. Wayne's wife, M1ll1e, is afraid of his racing but is learning to live with it. The first" time she saw Wayne crash she was sitting barefoot on the hood of a pickup. When It happened, she jumped down and started running for him. She was so excited she forgot about the other dudes in the race and darn near got herself ldlled runn1ng across the track. Wayne had had JUSt one of those .run of the mW spills so he was uninjured. Wayne bas big plans for next yearhe would like to give Ascot a try. He figures one more point run should make him an Amateur. Now M1ll1e bas something to be worried about because they don't mess around there. Good Luck Wayne. Don't forget to write the letters to Judge Wilkerson, Perris Justice Court, Perrts, Cal1fornla. 1b1s is OIIe time we can let our views be known..and hopefully prevent a step backward for our sport and the loss of a great track. -----I r I I su1»scrl1»e CYCLE MEWS WEST (VIA 2nd CLASS MAIL) $7.50 1 year 0 Adver'ising Manager' : $12 for 2 years 0 Of Cycle Magazine I" Guy Perdiue Named Get Cycle News lest II Cycle News East 1 Year for $9 (VIA 2nd CLASS MAIL) 2 Years f!»r S16 CYCLE NElS S4 for 1 year $7 for 2 years NAME Guy Perdiue bas been appointed Advertising Manager of CYCLE Magazine, a publication of the Z1ff-Davis Automotive Division.
