Shaw And Riggs Split Trojan 250 Mains By Margie SOUTH GATE, CAL. OCt. 16, 1969 - The Thursday D1ght racing schedule for summer came to an end gloriously, as spectators, huddled agalnst the cold, watched Larry Shaw and Dave Riggs clalm victories in the 250 Flat Track and TT 10 lap Main Events respectively. Larry Shaw on a Bultaco jumped to the lead in the 250 FT, with Irwin Moon second on a Bultaco, and Larry Stapleton on a Yamaha third. Jim Raymond on a 125 Yamaha stole third from Stapleton and' the flnlsh line saw Shaw, Moon, Raymond and Stapleton In that order. On the first lap of the 250 TT Larry Shaw, Irwin Moon and Jim Raymond took a sightseelng tour off the track which lett Larry Stapleton in first and Dave Riggs In second. RiggS pulled Stapleton a few laps trom the fIn1sh and stayed there to take the win on a Yamaha, leavIng Stapleton second on a Yamaha, Jack Vaughn third on an Ossa and Rick Trait fourth also on an Ossa. The 125 FT Main was a real thriller as Jim Raymond on a Yamaha held off Scott Autrey on his screamIn' twin. Jim Raymond trollicked In the 125 TT as he leaped to the1eadona Yamaha, with steve Goldberg on a Penton second, Raymond WUDDO third on a Bultaco and Lucky Merriti fourth OD a Bultaco. The 100cc classes buzzed around the track in fine style with Jim Raymond SDatched tbe win In the TT from early race leader Bob SandBS, leavlng Bob second on a Kawasald, Stan Wright third on a Kawasald, and Hodaka mounted Ron WU11ams In fourth. Again In the 100 FT, Raymond was first to see the checkered flag with Stan Wright second, Ron WUllams third and Bob Sanders fourth. The trophy dash action saw Jim Raymond (again) take bome ttve of the six trophies wInn1ng the 100 TT, 125 TT and FT, 250 TT and 250 FT. Stan Wright on a Kawasaki won the 100 FT dash. Starting tb1s week the winter schedule for Trojan wtll move to Friday nights. See you there.
