tJleir backwards scrambles, tJIe Hilltoppers made a two-day club event out
of It, spending Saturday re-painting their
1nslgn1a on a huge rock overlooldng the
track, and Sunday throwlng tJIe run.

All races were mass starts, ten laps

and all run on the long course, backwards.

you know how neat It 15. A lot of us actually preter It than the regular way.
For the first tvro or three races the track
was quite moist and sllck 10 spots

the larger Ughtweights moved out onto

Hank Scott (Honda) took the first w1n
of the day 10 the 50 class with a n1ce
marg1n ahead of Jay Lewis (Yamaha) and
young Coolde Summers(Honda) complete
with bts Red Baron scarf. Powder Puffs
came next and tor three or four laps
they mixed it pretty good unt1l the d1stance and the heat began to take Its toll
but all f1n1shed althought gallons of
Gatorlide flowed afterwards. DIane Connolly (Hodata) VIOn followed 10 by Lynnette Burk on a potent Uttle Loblto and
Debbie Sanders (KawasaJd).
Steve Nichols (Yamaha) who had just
won tJIe lOOCc Expert Malo beating out
Troy McKee (Hodaka) andRlchardSweaney (KawasaJd), bumped hard with Gary
Caldwell (Yamaha) around the rock turn
on the start of the 125 EJ
