Big bike action was the news of the day. District 37 points leaders forsook the many other events around the area to put on thundering performances around the hard, borsepower Bay Mare Track. A new jump added just before the grandstand straight gave fence-sitters an extra tbrlll. $500 dollars prize money was divided among the sidehacks (six outfits) and the winners of the lightweight and big bike sweepstakes races. Jim Dawson, with a pie-plate number and a 125cc Yamaha, ran oft with the lightweight money and tor a moment there it looked like the big bike sweeps would be an uPSet too, as 350 Honda mounted novice Steve Mosher tought aU John sprague, Larry Shoemaker and Mike Van Acker until the last lap. Van Acker took the win and an automatic disqualltication tor riding a ditterent bike'than he won his class with. So first place went to sprague, alI $125 of it.
