ThIs is the confident prediction· voiced by Bryan Wade, the 22year-old motorcycle racing star c:4 England. . Young Wade bas been racing Greaves cycles for two years and last year won himself the undisputed pOSition of the firm's No.1 racer. Not only is Wade perched on the top rung of most any rank1np of British motorcycle racers, be is regarded as very good for the sport because of his grim determination and his contagious gregariousness. He keepts the racing circuits all keyed up and makes himself a standout with hIs brash and bold predictions, many of which he turns Into BRYAN WADE rea11ities with his spectecular and constant viclorles. His path to the lop-starring attraction on the racing circuits has not been smooth and easy. Wade says that he tried in vain to Interest his father in buying him a motorcycle In hIs eariY teens. All begot was stern parental lectures on wily he should not even think of owning a cycle. ThIs did not deter him. Since be couldn't ride motorcycles he look UP the hobby of making home-made bombs. ThIs so shocked his parents that when he was 15 years of age, his father presented him with his ttrst motorcycle. Owning and racing amotorcycle was no Oassing fancy for Wade. He gave .up making bomhs and began mastering cycle riding. "I suppose they thought a cycle was sater than bomhs," he comments on the parental decision allowing him to ride. Wade went 10 work in the Greaves molorcycle factory and all the time he was looking forward to the day wilen the company would sponsor him as a molorcycle racer. At the age of 18 he mustered up enough nerve to ask the head of the factory to sponsor him in races. Again he was rebuffed, but with a polite smile that seemed to him to lodlcate that the company thought this was amusing, to say the least. Young Wade promptly quit his job and started on a campaign to convInce the Greaves factory management that he sbould be racing under theIr sponsorship. Two years of competing on British tracks and young Wade was called into the offices of the GreeYes plant. ThIs time the story was entirely dlfferent. Tbe company wanted to sponsor him and they bave been his racing sponsor ever since. How did be do it? Wade says be set out with the gm1 of sbow1ng the Greeves people that be was better tban any of tbe1r sponsored racers. "I didn't care wbetber I won or not. I just wanted to show the Greeves plant that I was better than anyone they had racing for them." His technique cllcked. He was beating Greeves sponsored racers, to sucb an extent that Greeves decided he was a racer for them. HUSKYxPENTON Parts - Ace... - Used BI kel ADDOCK'5 Outdoor World 2300 W.
