commended Barbara tor her eff orts in
the field of motor cle legislation.

helmet requirements since the National
Highway Safety Ac~ became effective,
Representing the United Motorcycle
Enthusiasts, Barbara presented testimony to the co mmi ttees concerned, and
coordinated other organizations and 1nd1viduals in their opposition to the leg1slation. Th e high point of the debate oc curred when she presented the committee members with actual helmets
(courtesy of Bell Helmets) tor their
examination. The resulting pandemonium
vi r tually assurred Cal1tornia cyclists of
the right to make their own choice s .
