Trail Bikes
There were 199 trail blkes ready ID
go fifteen mInutes alter the big blkes. At
the drop d the banner, almost everyone
got away. It was not real rough goIng
because ot the deep sand, third gear
and maybe tourth It you could get on toP
ot tile sand. At the smoke bomb, It was
Bob Belt on tile main trail and James
Jacklett, Ill, on the 111gb side ID tile left
d tile smoke. Belt was really QyIng
and passed JacJdett alter the smoke ID
bold tile lead all by himself.
Alter checl< Il l , Ertc Jensen, fI7 on a
Hodaka moved InID second spot and Jack
Morgan, III also on a Hodab look over
third. The trail bike leaders bad ID pusb
their bikes up tile last twenty teet ot the
steep hill because there were big bikes
lying all over the hill and on tile main
trail. Jenseo tou1ed a plug and dropped
back. Belt also ran InID trouble and bad
to give up the lead. By tills time, the
leaders, Morgan and JacklettwereheadIng InID the pits; Just before they botll
reached the pits, Morgan bad gearbox
problems and never made It out ot the
pits.
So now starting the second loop, Jacklett bad a good lead all ID hImselt and
beld It tor the entire tbIrty-two mIles
and pulled Into the tInIsb line the wInDer.
