ELSINORE NIGHT LIfE By Don Wallen The cool , crisp weather on Saturday, April 20 did not keep anyone away fr om Elsinore as racing was at a fever piten, Around 150 r iders , with wives and friends, made It for one of the most whiz-bang TT s crambles to be seen anywhere for a long time . In the 100 Novice, there were five semis alone . Five new Banditos showed up In one class, and a r eal thriller-type finis h climaxed the sweeps as J . Peterson pushed ahead by a wheel a t the line . A weird sight to be seen at Elsinore and not seen here too often , are the street riders with lights on, rldlng the surroundlng hills on the ridges . From a dlstance, they can easily be inls lake n for al rplanes. Middle Motor Masters The bailie was fierce as three names take prominence In the 250 Expert bailie on this night. Ellls, Park and Bartels r eally s cr ewed It on all night In a contest for the gold. Out of all the races In the 250 Expert and 250 Novice only one race was won by someone other than R. Elli s, a Novice . The winner of the other race was R. Norman on a Brldgestonewhogot a 3rd In the 200 Novice also. /lIs easy to see that Ellis Is gelling to know his way around Elsinore well. One reason Is that he rides It often , very often. E. Park dld a good job for 2nd, In s ome 'ca ses br inging the battle to Ellis through the corners. B. Bartels r ode hard and consi dering he' s aboard a Harley that weighs a lillie mor e than Bultac os I would say a very good ride Indee d. Small Scooter Swindle On this night, J . Pe terson put In a good performance , winning the Open Expert clas s, on a 440Cc BSA and al so ta king the 100 Exper t handily, but not without a try from J. Ar ledge and CQle Hopkins. Hopk1ns had tr ouble with plugs and fa ster competitio n, and Ar ledge couldn't keep ahead of Pe terson long enough to win the tr ophy.
