Page 68 Meet the DESSERT DOOZIES M.C. • By Fee rles L i ed er Let's get acquainted with one of Dis trict 86 ' s newest competition clubs , the all-girl - Dess ert Doozles ," .As many al re ady know, the " Doozies" was started by not ed girl racer Isabel Dooze but ha s now grown to three dozen. actuaUy meas uri ng a fUll 36! T he ir cl ubhous e is abou t to bust. Many of the beautiful girls are models - not to be confus ed wit h the popular inj ec ted plas tic types at hobby s hops - but othe rs work at more normal j obs such . as meter maids , ce ment fi ni s hing, e tc. One reason for the popularity of the club is the low dues • .A dime a day. Th at may not s eem low, but since the money is spent to buy nocal beer for the club hous e ge t-toge thers , it's che ap enough. No Raee Pred; Many people familiar wit h the girls have mistakenly thought of the group as an all -deser t club. Not so! The girls have no ra c e prejudic es. The name of the club is not misspeUed , by the way, but refer s to the way the gals ride in ord er to ke ep from get ting lost. "De s s ert,· then , means that they al ways follo w the main cours e. Becaus e a true "Doozy" is mechanically inclined , mos t do their own maintenance and tuning. Disdaining gas and oil, s he c alle d for a brush , comb and fresh inte ntly rac in g throu gh the pits . Both gals are si ngle and always put on a s how for the men rid ers in the ot he r clubs. .At the end of the race 18 of the girls were still out on the co urse wit h breakdowns , two of which were ... Then we asked Gordon Jennings ... "HOW DO YOU TUNE A RACING PIPE?" ---~ li pstick. · T he cameramen are all over th e hlll side ou t near the second check, " sh e s aid . - I was right in front of them until the dust got too thick,so I' m goi ng out for anothe r try." .Anot her of the flyin g " Doozie s" - came in to primp, but was pas s ed by two sobe r-faced gal s who we re ---~ ---~ bra straps . T hie e were out of gas and four were out' of cigarettes. Two had lost co mbs , one had a whiske red plug and one with whiskered ch ins. AU in all, the ladies had a fine time, just as they do whenev er they go out. The grime and dust don' t s eem to bother them at all , so when you hear of a girl enjoyi ng a wee ke nd of dir t, you can be sure s he ' s a -Doozy.· ( For best results wash In Col d Water)
