'" '" The P omona Fai r gr ounds will be resounding to the sounds of happy motorcyclists ~ competing In a Safety Gymkhana for cash prizes and trophies, the weekend of :::: February 17, as a result of the progressive attitude of the spons or s. The program Is being sponsored by the Pomona Safety Council , the Automobile -J Club of Southern California , the Call!ornia Motorc ycle Safety Council , the Pomona ~ Poll ee Department, and the Pomona J unior Woman's Club. U The' event Is intended both as a fun day and as demonstration of the need lor developing the nec essary skills when riding motor cycles . The contestants may sign up by acquiring an entry blank from any motorcycle dealer In the San Gabriel Valley area, or from the Auto Club oUice In Covina. There Is no fee , however, to enter, each contestant' s machine will go through a safety inspection and the r ider must have a helmet and prope r clothing for r iding a machine. Each participant will be gtven one hundr ed points at the beginntng and the points will be deducted for each safety violation while r iding a pr escribed cour se. First prize will be a $50 bond anda trophy; second prize, a $25 bond and a trophy ; and third prize will be atrophy. There will be fac ili ties for purchasing rood and refreshments and free movie s will be shown In another building during the Safety Gymkhana . The event will be held at the Los Angeles County Fairgr ounds and will begin at 9 o' clock on Febr uary 17. This promtses to be an exciting day lor one and all. It Is particularly tnteresting from the standpoint of the motorcycle safety situa tion.
