Read on for the wbole story••• MINUTES AMA COMPETITION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD OCTOBER 30th THROUGH NOVEMBER tstATTHE BALMORAL HOTEL, MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA. Meeting was called to order at 9: 00 a.m. by Chairman W.T. Berry, Jr. On roll call the following members were present: Leonard A'ndres, Al Arnold, Walt Brown, Rabun Chambless, John Ciccarelli, Rod Coates, E.W. Colman, Walter C. l»vldson, William G. l»vldson, John Esler, Earl Flanders. Jim lJIlVIS, Horace Fritz, Jules Horky,Oscar Lenz, R.H. 0' Brien, l.Jud1ey Perkins, Pb11 Peterson, EarI Roblnson, Bruce Walters, Ewin warmack, Earl Widman Peter W. Zepka. Sportsman: Pb11 Peterson, Horace Fritz, wm. G. DIlvIdson, Oscar LenZ, Bruce Walters, Rabun Chamb1e.ss. W. T. Berry, Jr. presented a wrltllen report on competition activities for the year. The Chairman reported on the development of the proposed Competition Congress. Richard Mann arrived at 9:45 a.m. The Chairman called for election of AMRMBA Trustees. Motion by Al Arnold tbat the present trustees; Walter Davidson, Jim Davts, John Esler, Oscar Lenz and Dudley Perkins be reelected. Seconded by Earl Widman. There being an objection from the fioor the Chairman called for nominations. Earl Flanders nominated Walter Davidson, Ewtn warmack nominated John Esler, Pb11 Peterson nominated R.H. O'Brien, who declined the nomination. Pbil PeterlSOll nominated Jim Davis. Earl Widman nominated Dudley Perkins, Al Arnold nomloated Oscar Lenz. Warmack moved that nominations be closed, seconded by John Ciccarelli, motion carried unanimously. The following AMRMBA Trustees were elected: Walter C. Davidson, J1m Davis, John Esler, Oscar Lenz, Dudley Perkins. Tbe Chairman declared the meeting to be In recess so tbat AMRMBA trustees could elect a President. AMRMBA trustees met. Nomination of Jim l»v1s as President was made by Walter Davidson, seconded by Dudley Perkins. Motion by Dudley l:'erklns that nominations be closed. Was seconded by John Esler, motion carried. Jim Davis was elected President of the AMRMBA trustees. Motion by Perkins tbat the following resolution be adopted. WHEREAS, the Code of Regulations of the American Motorcycle Association Is In the process of being amended to establish a Competition Congress In place of and with the responsibilities of the Competition Committee; and WHEREAS, Initial members of the Competition Congress are to be elected or designated during the first six months 01. 1968; and WHEREAS, the Trustees of the Amerlcan Motorcycle Riders Mutual Benevolent Association have adopted the follow~1llI: resolutlnn' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOIVED,that the Constitution and Bylawsof the American Motorcycle Riders Mutual Benevolent Association shall, effective with the first meeting of the Competition Congress, be amended by deleting In eacb Instance the words "Competition Committee" or "Committee" and inserting In lieu thereof "Competition Congress" or "Coogress". The Chairman reported to the committee that a few AMA clubs have been cosanctioning or co-sponsoring competitive events with other sanctioning organizations. Following a short discussion motion by Walter Davldsoo that the following resolution be adopted. Be It resolved that Article XVI, Sectioo 51 be amended as follows: "The 15 bigh point riders taken from the 45 cu. In. Amateur event are eligible to compete In the 45 cu. In. Amateur event at the National Champlonsbip Hill Climb", and Section 53 be amended to read: "Each year the winner of the 45 cu. in. B HlUclimber will ride one year as champion In that class and may defend bis title at the following B National Cbampionsbip regardless of number of points earned' during that year, however, be will then lmmedlately be adftDced to the A class. And that portion of section 5 pertalnlng to tow money be amended to read: "$10.00 tow money shall be pald non winners In Class A blUc1lmbs after they have ridden three events In anyone year".
