On saturday night December 2, a congenial group of over 300 professional racers, tuners, otfic1als, dealers, distributors and race fans gathered at Caesar's Palace in inglewood, Cal1f. for the annual Motorcycle Racers, Inc. Point Fund Presentation and party. Trophy a wards were made to the first three tlattrack and T, T, riders in each Dist. 37 AMA division - Novice. Amateur and Expert - as well as to the top tuners and most improved halt-mile riders. Through the cooperation of Referee Bert Brundage, point fund checks were also distributed. This money is derived from part of each rider's pit gate entry fee and amounts to a healthy sum by the Ascot season's end. (A complete rundown of finishers and point fund money earned appeared in last week's Cycle News.) Highlights of the evening were dancing to the talenteQ 6-piece Gil Tovar Combo. partaking of a tasty buffet, tossing down a little liquid refreshment, and just plain bench-racing. Caesar's Palace owner Rollo Brinkman expressed the wish 1Ilat motorcyclists would meet again at his plush Palace Room. Said Brinkman, "We've never had a nicer bunch of .PeOPle here." The trophy presentations would not have been possible without the cooperation of many generous individuals, dealers and distributors, among them: Bellnower Cycle, BSA Western, CB Motors, Century Motors, Cycle News, Bud Eldns M/C, Ted Evans, Earl Flanders Co., Harley-Davidson of L,A" Honda of Culver City, Hoclde's M/C, Honda of Gardena, Honda of Wilmington, Ed Kretz & Son, Lawndale Cycle, Long Beach Triumph, Ernie Pico, Motorcycle Racers, Inc., Norm Reeves, Triumph of Burbank, Wagner M/C Ins.
