'Trophies were given out after the
races, with the concession stand donating
their rematnlng :Jamburgers and hot clogs
to riders for free. You should have seen
the scramble off the "grid" when ·that
was announced!

Tratfic on the santa Ana freeway was
slopped temporarily due to a motorcycle
racer off the course. Steve McLaughlin
• crashed through the fence in practice
and both man and metal ended up In the
freeway'S northbound lanes. Steve,
watched unhurt as seven bl1nk1ng cars
collided, includingab1ghway patrol cruiser which observers say was totalled.
