TT aad Pbolo by Bill Petticrew Nestled among the low rolling hills near Ventura lies the small community of Moorpark, California. This small community has easy access With the Ventura freeway close by, and is relatively close for the city dwelling TT riders. This makes the Bay Mare TT track an ideal place to spend the afternoon racing without having a three-hour drive home afterwards. The track conditions in the morning of sept. 10 were great with a very nice cushion and cool weather. First to get into action were the 100cc Novice riders with Jim Arledge and a screaming little Yamaha managed to psyche Ken Greene and Dana Thompson for first place laurels. Ken and Dana were both Hondamounted. Bridge stone rider Jim Northern held off the charge of Ron Tobey and his Kawasaki to cop first in the Amateur EJlPert 100cc class. Randy Mathews teamed uP with a little Bridgestone 90 to snatch third. S&ory LAWNDALE CVCLE ARE 0.0 Sr. Retarns George Orno Sr. returned to racing lately and as they say, things improve with age, although George is no means old. he' s just been racing for Quite awhile. Randy Smith displaying his usual smooth form managed to fend off the bard charging MonteSa mounted- George Omo Sr. By the way. word from Randy's Dad is he'll he going Pro next season. Good luck! Viewfinder member and Maico enthusiast Ronnie Randell copped first place honors in the 350Cc Novice race. Alex Chinowski carne Ul) from Ojai to blow his trans and keep him away from Ascot for a few nights. But to no avail Alex borrowed another bike and proceeded to clean house. Third was Honda mounted Tom Schmid. Fourth place honors went to Honda mounted John Kavanaugh while Stan Coffee's Rickman· Bultaco sna tched fifth. Triumph and Bill Murphy blew off other Novice competition to win in that class. Jerry Chap and his Matchless managed a good second. hrass on a Triumph. Dave Sain of L.A. made bis run good for a fourth also mounted on a Triumph. Action in the 650cc AmateurExpert class got off with Buddy carter taking his Tril1lllPh to victory in the Amateur class. Jerry We llingham copped Expert honors. also Triumph mounted. Harley man James Bassey made a good run for the top brass and came pre tty close but didn't finish. All in all it was a good day of racing. The weather didn't get too hot and the track held together we 11. The people up at Bay Mare have really heen busy lately and have made some noticeable improvements. So if it'l> been awhile since you've been there, why not try it the next time there's a run. For those of you who go to spectate, the heer's nice and cold at the refreshment stand. 'DIe Big Scooters L. Lindsay came all the way from Saugus to be numher one wildman of the day with a firs t in the 650cc Novice. Ron Bode copped second on a Triumph. So. Norm is the owner of a custom body work and auto painting shop on Simpson A ve. in North Hollywood. Bul· taco man Tony Capistrano copped second to take some brass back to Reseda with him. Joe sanderson's Husky snatched a good third. J eft Robin took a well ridden fourth on a Montesa. The Amateur and Expert riders found that Rick James and a flying Bultaco PurSang too much to contend with. Gary Sowell, also on a Bultaco copped second with Michael Mc Clain taking third, also on a Bultaco.
