Ascot, Portland and Castle Rock. Odom breezed his way to his 6th straight win on dirt tracks at National events and extended his Amateur record to fi ve in one season. In the la-lap yellow-plate final. third-year Amateur Keith Nadler of Aurora, Illinois. got the jump on the field and led the first four laps. Odom passed Nadler on lap five and won going away. A surprise second place went to road racer Walt Fulton Jr. The twotime Daytona winner took up the art of dirt track racing last spring at Santa Fe and wheeled a factorysponsored H-D Sprint to his bestever finish off the pavement, passing Nadler on lap 8. Nadler wound up third ahead of Lloyd Houchins. The Santa Fe race was the last National in the East and Midwest this year. All the riders now swing to California for four straight weekends that include two half-miles. a mile track event and a road race.
