Even the rocks were scalding, but thanks to a light breeze off the nearby lake and the shade trees that track owner Jerry Burton has kindly provided. it wasn't unbearable. The Sportsmen M.e., sponsors of the District 37 points race. stood their posts like soldiers, risking 3rd degree sunburn. The littlebike riders split for the beaches as soon as their events were run. leaving the big bikers to sweat it out. It is said that the track was well watered during each race by the perspiration dripping off the participants. Lights are up at Perris now for the growingly popular night scrambles. Both Elsinore and Perris tracks offer saturday night non-points races, practically across the street from each other. It is probably only a matter of time before the District sanctions a point& race at night. Perhaps, to accommodate all the entries,lightweights could race at one track and big bikes at the other.
