Marvelous, eh what? The emergency ruling is that now to ride any District sponsored events, minors have to have a notarized statement from parent or guardian. This rule came out fast and more than probably cut into the gate for the Lightweights. but riders who did show up not knowing about it were saved by the hard work of Powder Puff Assn. President Eulene Long, who is a Notary Public. Distributed Nationally by KASUMI OIL CO. FOR DEALER INFORMATION 25th Av.. 5an Mat... Calif. CANOGA PARK John Rice: "Wbat happened to the rest of the lUys?" ~ that she had to miss her third moto! It was a change for the tiddlers to run that big course and fun too. Danny Hockie (Hodaka) had the lead in the Novice 100cc class but was finally nailed by Jim Meriscal on a Honda, with both boys really riding hard. The 125-200cc class was a little frantic on each start. Gary Stephens on a 120 Kawasaki was given a small handicap each time out, but by the time they all hit that first turn. the gang was right with him. But he didn't appear to be the nezvous type and ended up with a nice fourth place. Greeves-mounted Gary Bailey took the win with a day that brought smiles to distributor Nick Nicholson since it turned out to be a good day for the Greeves Group. Nick had his new 360 on display and other Greeve& . h I ' 1n t e top p aces were J:m Connolly, who won a wild 250 Expert class with Gary Bailey in second, while in the 250 Amateur class, Gordon Johnson, Qack from Hawaii, took second behind the flying Suzuki of David Brooks. Gary won the first moto, then on the nex t two Ray McCarty blasted out into the lead and held it for quite a whi Ie until John got him in the second and Jim in the third. The rest of the herd swapped finishing places back and forth. It took the scorers more point counting than usual for that one! Golden Goldies John Rice appeared again on the line for the 350-500 Expert main aboard one of Jim Hunter's matching Goldies with Jim on the other one. Jim's blew but John's didn't and he took the win with a backward glance over his shoulder to see where the others were. He had a line around the house turn completely unbelievable compared to what the customary • groove" is and we don't advise anyone else tries it they're likely to make their melon. We bet he won't teach that line as instructor at the next scrambles school which will be held at Perris! Next week he hopes to be out on his new 450 Honda. Now we'll really see some action with him and Monte Darling on Honda Haulers vs. the Birmingham Beezers, which include Golden Goldies and Victorious Victors! Tommie Carroll wrapped up the Open Amateur class with two straight moto wins and Ben Fakkeldy breezed away in the Open Expert. By the thi rd moto only three of them showed up, Darwin Ballard who took the second and John Larsen the third over-all man. (Results 011 Pll&e 16)
