In tbe same event, Shorty Seabourne, whose motorcycle didn't arrive, borrowed a Novice's 250cc Suzuki and finished as first alternate against 500cc competition. -- 5 lACES '" 4 DA'S Spectators could hardly see the action for rooster tails in the Expert Trophy Dash. Cal Rayborn grabbed the lead and held it from Pat Gosch and Van Ness. The Flying Flea, sammy Tanner, shut off in the back chute before receiving the yellow flag. Jim Odom took the lead in his Amateur heat and built up enough of a lead that when his ignition fouled he literally coasted three out of the five laps to win and still make the fastest heat time! In the time allowed between the heats and the semis, he repaired his bike and won his Semi. He then went on to win the Trophy Dash by \4 of a lap and the Main Event by almost a half a lap.
