But all 91.000 who attended thronged in awe around the mezzanine where the motorcycles stole the show. Trials and Teaclling Macbine The bikes were ranged around the Sports Arena like the rim of a giant wheel. Outside rose the roar of ringdings as the "trials course" offered rides to showgoers for 501t a throw. Everyone who took 'advantage of this opportunity to tryout the bikes got a button that said "I did it at the Cycle World Show." The motorcycle simulator or "teaching machine" developed by Cycle News made its first full-scale de but at the show with private dem?nstrations given for government, lDdustry and education leaders. Neal'" ly everyone who took the simulated ride made one or two errors that could have been dangerous if it had been in real traffic instead of a movie. Attendance broke all records for a three day show. Last year 100 000 viewed the bikes in four days. New models outshone the glittering customs, amoung them the giant German Mammut four, distributed by Floyd Clymer, the new 360 Bultaco. Greeves and Montesa scramblers. the nifty 100cc Moto Beta and the 50cc Mondial teacup racer, as well as the new White scrambler in roadgoing trim. the Norton 750 scrambler, the new Van Tech and the Honda 450 scrambIer.
