Atlaatic, CDqltlll If YOUR DEALER DOESN'T HAVE OllIUM Lacher was more than impressive as he gave H-D their second Main Event win in the last three weeks. The pint sized blaster from San Diego took the lead away from Dan Haaby on the second lap and was out front the rest of the way. Haaby tried numerous times to regain the front spot but finally was out of the running with a dead engine on lap 13. . A/CIJT H·D in Point Lead . For the first time since anybody can remember, a H-D rider now has the Expert point lead. Lacher has now taken over from the -BSA Wrecking Crew· and leads Tanner by four points and Haaby 29. Odom Rons Away For the second straight week it was all Jimmy Odom in the Amateur class as he ran away again on a Triumph that was red hot for all but the last two laps of the Final. Odom turned back Jan Crawford in the heat race and then built an early lead in tbe Main Event. Lucky for him that he did as tbe engine soured badly with two laps to go but be still held on to win with distance - again over Crawford. Smith Annihilates Novices Like the Expert standings, tbe Novice class also found a new point leader. Tbis one also has gone over the H-D as Dave Smith roared to his second Main Event win of the season by a wide margin over one time winner, Rick Ellisarranas. Former point leader, Rick Woods, retired early in the race with a blown piston, running a distant second. BSA tuners are beglMlng to think that the Harley-Davidson boys know something they don't with the Milwaukee twins winning two Mains early In the season. Mel Lacher came up to Ascot and turned back the best the Brltl sh had to offer.
