Dovel, one of the top competition racers in the U.S., was recently appointed by Cosmo to visit Benelli dealers in the country who handle Cosmo products. He'll be representing Pirelli tires, AGV helmets, Borrani rims and Cerian! forks. Darrel's schedule will be arranged to permit him to compete in as many of the important events as possible. They bave been previewed to the public at the International sport Cycle Exhibition in Los Angeles and the Daytona International Exhi bition in Daytona Beach. The powerful Avenger is a 115 mph street machine that pours 40.5 horsepower "through a 350cc two-stroke twin, rotary valve engine and can cover the distance of a \4-mile drag strip in less than 14 seconds in stock condition. Highly adaptabie in performance from street use to the demands of competition, the Avenger has a 4Q-degree climbing capability, S-speed transmission and double cradle tUbular frame. It weighs only 329 lbs. Engine operation features an oil il\i ection system called Injectolube. The Samurai 250 street scrambler is distinguished by a set of high twin exhausts that wrap around the engine and back along the left side of the bike. It's the oaly two-stroke twin with this unique design feature. The samurai has a top speed UP to 105 mph and can clinlb a 39-degree slope. Its 250cc twin, dual rotary valve power system is based on the powerful engine used for the samurai A-I R production Road Racer. Suspension consists ofan oil-damped telescopic fork in front and oil-damped swinging arm in the rear. Double leading shoe front hrakes and alloy cYlinders are also featured. The trail-bred 120 Road Runner is actually a 179 lb. lightweight street scrambler, with plenty of torque UP to a top speed of 68 mPh. Powered by an allOY-cYlinder two-stroke rotary valve engine of 115cc. displacement, it develops 11.5 horsepower at 7,000 rpm. Other features include 18-inch wheels, seamless candy apple fuel tank and double loop tubular steel frame. Trail bike parts, such as a handlebar brace and upswept exhaust, are standard on the Road Runner, and a kit will be available later this year to allow the rider to convert the bike to exclusive trail use. , s E. Standard equipment on the Trail 90 includes engine protection with a steel plate, bigger, brighter rear and brake lights for safety and a USDA-approved spark arrester/muffler. Bore and stroke is 50x45.6mm, with a compression ratio of 8.2:1. The machine has' a four-speed, constant-mesh transmission with automatic clutch.
