Tbomson ,A meeting to receive the views of the public on proposed regulation of vehicle travel covering approximately one-half million acres of land within the Sequoia and Inyo National ·Forests will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. March 16, 1967. in the City Council Chambers in Porterville, California. This proposal has been under consideration during the last two years and according to Forest Supervisors L.M. Whitfield and Joe Radel of the Sequoia and Inyo National Forests thi s meeting is a final step to insure that nobody's views are overlooked. Both Forest Supervisors stressed that all views. comments, and other information previously received will definitely be considered, and these views need not be repeated at this meeting. The meeting is to be conducted by Jesse Farr. Regional Attorney for the Department of Agriculture. He will open the meeting at 9:30 a.m. and it will continue tin.til all interested persons have been heard. HARLEV- DAVIDSON Those participating are enconraged to submit written statements summarizing their views. Those unable to attend may also submit written statements. 'These statements may be directed to Fo'rest Supervisor, Sequoia National Forest, P.O. Box 391, Porterville, California 93257. The area under consideration includeS much of the Forest land south of the John Muir Wilderness and north of Lake Isabella. The original proposal was shown on a map entitled -Restricted Motor Vehicle Area" published by the Forest Service and dated May 1.1966. This map is available at the office of the Forest Supervisor at Porterville and Bishop. The proposal calls for certain controls on oft-road vehicle travel in the designated area to provide for public safely and for resource protection. Supervisor Whitfield points out that a great number of expressions, both verbal and written, have already been received. The March 16. 1967. meeting has been scheduled principally to hear views not previously considered.
