NEVADA DRAGS By Bob Ebeling Las Vegas, Nevada, the paradise for the compulsive gambler and playground of the vacationer, is being transformed for two dayS into a Cycle Racers dream. February 18 and 19th will be divided equally between the drag advocates and road racers and the choice is there for an enthusiast to take advantage of both. Tbe great Hacienda Motel bas provided special rates i" the racer that include three days and two nights of luxurious accomodations with food, drink and a free taste of the wheel of fortune for a bonus. This is only a small part of the greatest racers' weekend of 1967. Tbere are olber benefits to entries sucb as gift certificates of ten dollars value donated by tbe wild Nevada Cluh and a buffet dinner, topless Door show and refreshment session is to be hosted at the same elegant club. Oh, La! la! or whatever expression crosses your mind when you see some of ,the most beautiful women from the Nevada floor shows passing out the winners' trophy to each victorious rider and then providing unequaled entertainment to everyone in idle, after the race hours. ":ntries are already on file from Chicago, Iowa, New Mexico, presenting a roster of riders who are well known in some of the past all-bike drag meets by world record performances. Leo Payne, Murray and Cook, Perry and Scotty, Jim Lineweber and enough others to make Nevada remember this weekend as the fastest on two wheels along the world famous strip at the Stardust Raceway. The greatest thing to be awarded will be the fellowship and entertainment that has never been equalled before in any phase of drag or road racing on this continent. The drag meet in itself will be entered by the fastest machines in the United states and yet there is a hracket for everyone. The meet will be run on elapsed times and here is a list of the brackets: 1 - 9.50 sec. - 10.25 2 - 10.25 - 11.00 3 - 11.00 - 11.75 4 - 11.75 - 12.75 5 - 12.75 - 1-3.50 6 - 13.50 - 14.25 7 - 14.25 - 15.25 8 - 15.25 - 16.25 9 - 16.25 - 17.25 10 - 17.25 - up Fi ve hundred dollars will be divided among the first six bracket winners and runner-ups. Trophies and piles of merchandise will be awarded to winners of brackets no. 7 thru 10 and the runners up will receive almost the same riches.
