trophy dash in a close contest all the way. Elliott edged novice Rick Woods
for second place in the final standings by five markers. In the main event it
was Schultz taking second with Woods third to run the battle for second place
in the standings right down to the final lap.
Eddie Mulder, although he finished last in the 100cc main event. posted
the fastest six 100cc laps of the night when he defeated Romero for one of
the two semi main event wins. Cycle News' Production Assistant Randy say,
on his 125cc Yamaha, upset the 250's in the heat races and not only won but
posted the best time of the twelve heats.
In the semi main event round in the 250cc class Corder really got to
hauling and was by far the fastest winner of the four final events that transfor the leaders to the feature race. His six lap time was a blazing 53:64
seconds! say had the second fastest semi win as he scored his second upset
of the night against the bigger machines.
The ten lap consolation race for the 250cc riders who just missed
the final was one of the best ever. Ten riders started, five riders
crashed somewhere along the ten lap ron and Swede Savage came
through on his Montesa to score his first indoor win. It was a wild
one all the way.
Trojan Enterprises now closes the Long Beach track until next November when the third season will start on the concrete. The final indoor point
standings will be published in next week's issue.
