Tbere was only one short sandwash,about 20 miles of very dusty trails. and a lot of rocks. These were mos tly 4 and 5-inch pe bbles on tbe trails, and I found that the best way to ride on them was with a light front end. If you got off the main trail to pass someone picking their was through, then you got into the really iii, rocks. and it was "Hang on Sloopy!' Ken Knudson. #42 on a Triumph, was the first through on the first loop. with Howard Beach. #33. an amateur on a Triumph. in second. Bobby Ferro, #16 on a Triumph, was 5th at the gas check.
