ee c:. .'". se THE POKER PARADE ''"" Q t> .. THREE CHEERS FOR THE HI·JINX ~ • By John Shedd If you missed this poker run , you missed a good one which more than Iikely won't be repe ated until the Hi·J inx have anothe r. The Hi-Jinx don 't like the average, too easy, poker run. They like to be ju s t a li ttl e di ffer ent. Th i s club believes in the old phil os ophy tha t what i s worth having is worth working for, and to win some of the ir go ld you must s tay alert and work for every point. That's what I said , every point. No one gets a trophy just because he was luc ky eno ugh to draw a goo d poker hand. The five c ar ds that were drawn at th e non-s ecr et checks were only a small par t. Their trophy getters are points . In this point system riders are given points for making checks (not as easy at it sounds), for po ker hands , for making observations along the way and answering re lated quesuons, and also the games. Th er e were a po s s tble 126 points in this run and the winner missed 40 of them. Although only a small group of riders took part in the run, all of those wbo finisbed bad a blast. All that finisbed? Sound strange for a poker run? Like J said, the Hr - Jinx don' t like things too easy. Onl y 50% of the entires we re able to comp lete the run . The rest? Nobody knows, but tbey didn' t make it to tbe finisb . In fact , quite a few didn't make it to tbe first cbeck, whicb was beld open two bours longer tban planned.
