The course was well laid out so that even first year riders had a chance to get around. This is not true of maoy events in the desert. The Pathfinders feel that everyone who enters deserves a chance to finish. Many clubs fail to realize that racing needs young felias coming up and if a course can't be ridden, one gets discouraged. Many of Ibe Grand Prix class championships have not been determined, and this event will be the deciding factor. In the lOOcc class, it will be Barry Helrmann and Jeff Pasternak fighting for the championship. In the 175cc class, it will be Ralph LeClerCQ and Dave Allee. In the 250cc class, there is the possibility of a three-way mce between Buddy Parriott, Steve Gibson aod Walt Fulton Jr. The 350cc class could go to either Bob Fleckenstein or James Deehan with the outside chance that Hugh McLean or Art Baumann could take first spot. I did not mean to imply that all riders on Harley-Da vidsons are cowboys. I used this expression to point ou t a fact that the riders in the United States are probably as good as any riders in the world, but they have not had a chance to perform in international competition events. Tro,bies for street riders We have been assu red by the Si dehack Association that they will have four or fi ve entries as a special event at this Grand Prix. We hope to include sidecar raciogat fu lure Grand Prix events. Also, there will be a special event for the street riders. All street riders are cordially invited to enter this event free of charge and may pick up their entry forms at the gate as they pass through. There will be trophies in events such as best-looking custom machines, bestlooking standard machine, club participation, etc. Immediately following the Grand Prix event, there will be a trophy presentation and pay-off as well as a dance at The Players, located in Rosamond at 2763 o. Sierra Highway, just a few miles from the track. This event will conclude the ACA national points road races for the 1966 seas8ll, and the followlne weekend on saturday night, November 12lh, the ACA will bold lhelr annual awards banquet at Coda's Restaurant, 6231 Manchester, Bueoa Park. The fiattrack season is now officially closed as of our championship event at South Gate last Thulsday night. Next year, we plan to get underway with a full flattrack season.
