August 27th found the stands full. and some 70 riders on hand for action. The track was hard. fast, and free of dust. During practice the riders soon found that they would have to ride to the best ot their ability, if they wanted to grab a trophy. The 60cc Class zapped around the track. throttles wide open. with Joe .Allen on a Suzuki leading the way to the winners circle. Mike Rockwell on aHonda was second, Bizzzily followed by John Allen on his Suzuki. Gene Freize on a Honda won the 90cc Class for the second week in a row. It appears Gene has finally gotten his bike problems straightened out as he again is running very well. Dennis Mayhew on a Honda was second. followed by Paul Minor Sr•• also on a Honda. Bob Vaughn on his 125cc Honda won the 175cc Class. Bob looks better and better every week! John Ross' Honda was second, followed by Roger Smart on a Kawasaki. The 200cc Class was put neatly away by Dave Veffredo on a Bultaco followed by Bill Snodgrass and John Dotson both Bultaco riders. Expert George Mccarty on his potent Honda again ran away With honors in the 250cc Class. Hays Williams' Honda finished second, with Al Krill on a BSA making a fast third. There were many spills which can only be attributed to the excellent condition of the track which led many racers into riding beyond their ability. One hopes the condition of the track will remain the same from week to week while the riders improve. The fast smooth track really puts on a show for the spectators.
