A small crowd of only 350 people
witnessed a dazzling' display of motorcycle racing. Sunday. July 24th at the
three-quaner mile oval in Elma. Wash.
Sixty-three of the top riders from
Washington. Oregon and British CoIWIJbia put on one of the fastest events this
track has ever seen. Fast time of the
day was by Glen Adams of Portland
Oregon. number two TI' rider in the
nation. with a 28:56 time.
The Expert trophy dash was won by
Adams. followed closely by Dick Taylor. of Kirkland. Wash. 1964 National
TT Champion. and Larry Garvey of Vancouver. B.C. The Amateur dash winner
was Del Bausch, of Tumwater. Wash..
with Dick Mathews second, and Joe
Dehner of Kent, Wash., third.

new BSA. Second was Dick Mathews of
Tacoma. riding a Triumph and third
place went to Bill Fogg, aboard a
Triumph.
The Novice main consisting of ten
riders was taken by the rismg YOUOI
star from Tacoma. sandy Saunders who
switched from Bultaco to Harley-Davidson a week ago. In practically no danger
from the starting flag to the checkered,
he outdistanced his competition with
comparative ease. This is a man to keep
an eye on.
