One hundred ninety three riders lined up under the lights forty times for a try at the tricky track. ....y fell by the wayside in the run to the trophies but those that lIade it to the winners circle were amply rewarded by the appreciative crowd. By far the IIOst popular race of the night was the Ladies Race, (Naturally!) Peggy McGill took this one by moving up ODe slot froa her finish last week. The place position was made by Alice Gr..t, the uumber four girl a week ago. Sherri Wolf turned up in the third place with Sherry Bullard right behind. This weekly night tiae action at the Lodi Cycle Bowl is becomiug a big thing in central California. Russ Ro binson in the IOOcc class continued his winning streak by winning both the trophy dash and the lOOcc main, but not quite as easily as one might expect. With the return of Dave Ham, one of the top IOOcc riders, Russ had his work cut out for him. Keith Mashburn finished third in the lOOcc main and also gave Russ a hard time through the entire evening. Second place man Rick Wonds was unahle to do better than fifth place in the IOOcc main. Rick has been plagued with engine troubles for the last couple of weeks and will be back on his old machine, a Yamaha, next week. He says he'll be trying for the number one spot again. The 50cc main event went to Mike Smith on a Tohatsu, followed by Alan wonds also on a Tohatsu. It's good to see brothers Randy and Ken Layne, competing in the same event again. They ran 3rd and 4th respectively, in the 50cc main. The 250cc trophy dash went to the old • charging borse' of flat tracking, Ivan Oden, on his Honda, but Ivan was beat out of first place in the 250cc main by Rick Woods on his Ducati. Number 2 man last year, Johnny Balaam, got back on a 2-eycle for the first time in quite a while and really started to show his old form again, finishing third over-alL It looks as though John perfonns better on 2-eycles than on 4-eycle machinery, I •
