'" ~ ~ ~ ~ ...J U , • • Suzuki teamsters Haruo Koshino, Ron Grant and Walt Fulton Jr. were the men to beat at the " ,Spirit 76" road races on the fast Willow Springs course July fourth. They were riding motorcycles that are used as test beds for the features that will make future production Suzuki models as much better than their competition as today's bikes are better than any- again Suzuki and Haruo Koshino crossing the finish line ahead of all others. The Suzuki team really did it in the 250cc Grand Prix class. This time the first man home was Ron Grant riding a Suzuki X-6 Hustler. Second place went to Haruo Koshino aboard his trusty 125cc works twin, and Walt Fulton Jr. of Daytona novice fame made it a clean sweep for Suzuki by bringing his X-6 Hustler in for the third place gold. • .. thing else you can buy. Hamo Koshino started the Suzuki parade with a win in the 50cc Grand Prix class aboard the works water cooled, disc valve twin. In the 125cc go 'round it was Later in the day, Larry Hynan showed everybody just how fast a motorcycle the Suzuki X-6 Hustler is by winning the 250cc production class and placing second overall against machines of up to 883cc. If you thi nk that race winning Suzukis are far removed from the ones that ~ U your dealer has waiting for you - forget it. Larry Hynan was riding a stock bike because the rules say he has to. Even those works racers, though much faster than machines on the market, are used to test ideas for future production Suzuki models. This is the way the Suzuki engineers learned to build today's bikes to go so fast - - with the works racers of yesterday. Test ride a Suzuki today and experience the riding thrill that only a few years ago, was reserved for the factory riders alone. Something that you'll get that was denied yesterday's works riders is the smoothness and reliability that are a part of the Suzuki package. Ever hear of a racing bike that was comfortable? Or quiet? Or simple to ride? Of course not. It can't be done. What the Suzuki engineers have done is combine the speed l es sons learned from previous works racers with the smooth comfort made possible by modern engin eering, making a pleasant bike that will walk all over the opposition.
