M arty MacDonald tak.. over the writing chores: April 29, 1963 - M onday MARK'S JOB Jim got up about 7:30 . I got up at 8:00. I really like my job. I work with a guy named Gene . The owner's name is Mr. Janderbeur . They are both real nice guys. Gene is a real good mechanic. I am slowly but surly learning about Hondas . I ha ve put ab out 10 of them togethe r. I only make $50 a week but if I sell a new bike I get anywhe re from $30 to $40. I haven't sold any yet. Gene said his brothe r is a mechanic on cars. He is going to talk to him and see if he will tune up our truck for us . Afte r I got off work I went hack to Jim 's house a nd ate supper. It 's a rea l crackup when P et e " my boss " gets all excited when I paint something I ain't supposed to . He stutters like a broken record whenever I do this. He says " I to-told y-you ra-ta pa-pa-paint th-the stu-stu-stuc-stucco na-not th-the da-dadam ro-ruff- rof - not the da-dam ta-top of the-the how-how-house! " After all this he takes my brush and shows me what and how to paint. He paints for about five minutes, "talking like 60 , " I can't understand him 50 I just sit down and watch. Alt hough it seemed at firs t that confusion would rule the roos t, due to a mix-up in R.R.C. dates, co-o peration between the Roulettes a nd t he Lu cky Wheels of Sant a Ana, Ca li fornia led to an enjoya ble so lutio n and to the pleasu re of a ll co nes rned.Club presidents , J. M. J ones of t he Lucky Wheels and Jame s Ce cil of the Ri din g Roule ttes , are planning to combine t hei r 1967 Vegas Run into a giant two- day meet. If this can be worked out , the joint efforts should lead to a tu rnout second only to the Deat h Valley Run . The Roul ette s held their di nner from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m , on Saturday a nd their trop hy presentatio n followed. Larry Suit (Kustoms M.C. ) and his • wife highlighted the affair by taking the trophy for Bes t Dressed Couple. Larry looked sharp in his white tuxedo jacket an d black pants, his wife was carefully atti red i n a blue formal gown. Judging th e rid ers an d the i r machines were Bill Hurl e y of Phoenix. Chuc k Smith, Sheriff's Dept . , F loyd Radk e a nd Lou L ea vitt , the latte r two are 25-ye a rA .M.A. members . The Ha rd Luck T rophy went to Mr. and Mrs . David Miller who went down after a flat ti re on the rear orlheir new Harley. Over 30 motorcycle clubs were repr e s en t ed in the L ucky Wheels srouo. A vast ma j ority brought al ong their camping equip ment and t urne d the ranch into · Pup T ent City.' Th e W el s had a trophy ha ndhe out before moto ring over to t he Bona nza for t he i r di nner. Sunday, a t 8:00 a.m. , a pa rade formed up at Kner r' s Ha rl ey-Da vids on shop on first street. T he combined clubs , led by fi ve motorcycle officers , rode along Fremont street , a lo ng North Las Vegas Blvd. to Bonanza , wher e ride rs lined up for the L ucky Whe el s tr ophy pres en tation i n the Me moria l Bld g. pa rki ng lot.
