Phil Bowers, Bill Friant and Bill
Thorwaldson all piloted 250cc machines to to p positions.
Charlie Hockie, who finished
seventh on a 250cc Bultaco, led most
of the race, pulling into nine of ten
checks ahead of the pack. But Charlie ran into trouble the last few miles,
and dropped six spots.
Conrad, winner of the national hare
scrambles title and fourth in the
state championship hare scrambles
earlier this summer, won by three
minutes yesterday. He led 100 finishers (of 237 starters) across the finish
line in Garlock, near Red Rock Canyon.
