Tomac didn't lead every lap, he
did dominate after warming up,
coming from behind to take the
win nearly four seconds ahead
of runner-up Webb and another
10 seconds ahead of Roczen on
a challenging track that took just
40-plus seconds to get around.
It was a big win for Tomac who
padded his championship lead by
five more points.
Webb needed more than a
second place to help his cause,
losing another three points to
Tomac isn't what he wanted.
Webb, who is third in the cham-
pionship, now trails Tomac by 32
points.
IIIMY OWN RACE:
16 ZACH OSBORNE
5TH PLACE 450SX
Zach Osborne was back on the track
a er suffering injuries earlier in the
season. "It was a posi ve weekend
overall," Osborne said. "It was my
first race back from injury, so it was
really good for me to go out there
and get comfortable in prac ce. I feel
really comfortable on the dirt here in
Salt Lake, which is something that's
not typically my forte but it's coming
around for me. I'm happy with where
I'm at fitness-wise and with my bike."
12 SHANE MCELRATH
1ST 250SX EAST
Shane McElrath said he used the break
in the season to get extra acquainted
with his new bike. "I had a near perfect
day and I'm really happy with the
progress we've made over the last few
months since Daytona," McElrath said.
"My bike was awesome today and I felt
great with the eleva on. The track was
honestly the best-case scenario with
the weather and wind that we dealt
with today. I felt really good and I'm
ready for another race in a few days."
Cooper Webb (1) took second, which
sounds good, but he needed better
than that if he's going to repeat as
champion. Webb had his chance to
win after getting as high as second
place but just could not keep up with
Tomac. A bobble late in the race with
Tomac in his sights didn't help. Webb
is now 32 points out of first place in
the championship.
