LOOKING BACK
We ran a photo of Brad Lackey on the cover of Cycle News 40 years
ago with the headline: "Is Bad Brad Losing His Grip?" Lackey's one-
time lead in the 500cc MX World Championship had slipped to a three-
point deficit after finishing third in Finland... Jaroslav Falta's lead in the
250cc MX World Championship shrank to one point in West Germany,
and, in Yugoslavia, Harry Everts clung to a one-point margin over Marc
Velkeneers in the 125cc title chase... Doug Domokos performed stunt
riding in the movie Cannonball Run, starring Burt Reynolds.

Jim Wilson was featured on the cover of Cycle News 50 years ago.
Wilson, the West team captain, won all three motos at the Bay Mare East/
West Showdown. The West took the win after suffering a one-point loss
to the East the week before at Pepperell... Canadian Dave Sehl won
the 10-mile National Championship Flat Track race over Cal Rayborn at
Louisville Downs... Swede Chris Hammargren won the 500cc World MX
Championship round at the Swedish Grand Prix... Joel Robert outdueled
Suzuki teammate Sylvain Geboers at the 250cc MX GP in Italy.
