P100 50 Years Ago JUNE 2, 1970 LOOKING BACK We featured the Scottish Six Days on the cover 40 years ago. American World Champion Bernie Schreiber was pictured negotiating the infamous Pipeline section. The overall winner was Yrjo Vesterinen. Schreiber ended up sixth and was the top-finishing American... Broc Glover (125cc) and Kent Howerton won the 125/250cc AMA National Motocross round at Southwick... We featured an interview with 19-year-old motocrosser Brian Myerscough... Frank Stacy won the Rose City ISDT Two-Day Qualifier in Michigan... Kevin Lavoie won the Oregon State National Enduro. 40 Years Ago MAY 28, 1980 Tim Hart, riding a Maico, was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 50 years ago while battling with Jim Wilson. The photo was taken during a motocross event at Ascot Park... Mike "The Bike" Patrick won the Victor's M.C. Hare & Hound in Red Rock Canyon, California... Dave Aldana finished ahead of Gene Romero, Dusty Coppage and Mert Lawwill to win the Expert flat track main event at Ascot Park. Kenny Roberts topped the novice class.
