Jordan Ashburn, who capitalized
on a good start.
"I got a good start and fol-
lowed Kailub the first few laps
and just tried to pick good lines
and ride the smooth edges of
the track," said Ashburn. "I spent
a lot of time on the track just
trying to save energy. I wanted to
be on the podium, but I feel like
it was a solid finish for Florida.
I know our fitness is there, and
the bike is there, so we'll be on
the podium before long.
In the past, Ashburn might
have struggled in the sand, but
this winter, he spent several
weeks practicing in Florida.
"I've really come accustomed
to it a little bit, just practicing
down here in the winter," said
Ashburn. "I've really got my bike
set up good for this race this
year. It's always never really
been set up right. I made sure
everything was right because I
wanted to come out here and do
