Davies had a new rear shock
and swingarm design on their
Ducati Panigale V4Rs. Davies
eventually finished 15th.
Alex Lowes (Kawasaki) im-
proved his way to fourth after
having his first truly wet laps
on the Kawasaki on day one.
Michael van der Mark (Pata
Yamaha) was fifth overall, and
Haslam went from day one
leader to day two sixth.
Alvaro Bautista took a slow-
speed fall in the morning on his
HRC machine but recovered
well.
Michael van der Mark and
new rider for 2020 Garrett Ger-
loff (GRT Yamaha) were close
behind Haslam in the mid-after-
noon and remained there for the
first day—a confidence booster
for new boy Gerloff.
The Kawasaki Racing Team
went to Barcelona to finish one
day of tests there on Monday,
January 27, but the bulk of the
2020 field went to Portimao for
two days of tests, from January
26-27.
On day one in Portugal Red-
ding was quickest having used a
qualifying tire to get more experi-
ence on it, with three Yamaha
riders—Loris Baz (Ten Kate),
Razgatlioglu (Pata) and Van der
Mark (Pata)—ranged out behind
him.
Razgatlioglu got close to that
time on day two, with Baz and
