WorldSBK Gets Back Into Action
T
he WorldSBK winter war got
off to a damp start in the first
main test of 2020, after over-
night rains continued through the
opening day at Jerez in Spain
last week.
Leon Haslam topped the wet
times on Wednesday, January
22, with his new official HRC
Honda Fireblade before Jona-
than Rea took to the track on the
final day, Thursday, January 23,
having sat out the wet weather of
day one.
Only the Kawasaki Racing
Team, that had rented the track,
rode for a short time on Tuesday
before the start of the tests on
Wednesday. It proved to be wet,
even if only damp in places, for
one magic hour or so on the final
day.
On day two of the large scale
"all-out" tests the conditions
improved enough to let five-time
champion Rea (Kawasaki) go
just into the 1:40s and his time
would remain on top.
Behind him was new Pata Ya-
maha signing Toprak Razgatlio-
glu and then Scott Redding
(Aruba.it Ducati), a rookie in
