were the top pro-class riders at the CMC Golden State Nationals at Castaic,
California… In the GFI California Winter Series, Damon Bradshaw out-
dueled Jeff Ward at Barona Oaks… In Tallahassee, Florida, Chris Coleman
and John Dowd were pulling down
the first-place trophies at Hyman
Myers Park… We reported Jimmy
Filice was injured in an automobile
accident with driver John Ashmead.

We went to Valencia to ride the latest YZF-R1 from Yamaha, and it
was pictured in action on the front page of Cycle News 20 years
ago… For the second week in a row, Edison Field (aka Anaheim
Stadium) hosted round two of the AMA/EA Sports Supercross
Series, where Jeremy McGrath, once again, took the win, this time
13 seconds ahead of runner-up David Vuillemin. Tallon Vohland won
the 125cc class, it was his first Supercross win in eight years… We
featured an interview with Troy Bayliss.
