Jeremy McGrath got the 21st century started by starring on the cover
of Cycle News 20 years ago. Our first issue of the 2000s featured
our Supercross preview, which included an interview with PACE Motor
Sports' Gary Becker and Suzuki factory racer Travas Pastrana…
On the road racing side, we interviewed 600cc Supersport Champion
Nicky Hayden… We also featured our 2000 250cc MX Shootout. The
winner? Honda CR250R… Jeremy McGrath won the Chaparral pre-
Supercross Shootout at Glen Helen.
We started off the 1990s with an interview with Kenny Roberts, chatting
mostly about his Marlboro-sponsored GP team… We also tested the 1990
Kawasaki KLR650 and KL650 Tengai dual sport bikes… Suzuki revealed
its complete line of 1990 motorcycles, highlighted by the new DR650S,
and off-road-only DR250L and
DR350L… Alan Cathcart took
a few laps on Eddie Lawson's
NSR500 GP road racer.
