the front page of Cycle News 40 years ago… World Champion Bernie
Schreiber gave a lesson in trials riding when he dominated the El Trial
de Espana at Saddleback Park. His nearest rival was U.S. Trials champ
Marland Whaley… We covered the U.S. Women's Invitational MX at
Carlsbad Raceway, where Sue Fish came away with the victory… We
tested the Mega-Form 400 Maico… We interviewed The Wheelie King,
Doug Domokos.

DECEMBER 19, 1979
We featured the final round of the Inter-Am motocross series. We reported
that 20,000 fans had come out to Saddleback Park in Southern California to
watch the best MX racers from Europe take on the best riders from America.
Swede Arne Kring took the win just like he had at many of the previous
races. The top American finisher was Bill Silverthorn who finished in 10th
place… Bill Spencer covered the final San Jose Short Track of the year,
where Mark Brelsford captured his fifth win in a row.
